A few weeks ago I decided to treat myself to the new OPI manicure and pedicure offered at Sorbet Salons. This treatment has been dubbed an anti-aging facial for your hands and feet. This piqued my interest and of course me being me I had to give it a try.

I had this treatment done at Sorbet in Windermere Centre, Durban by Shalona Singh, who is my therapist and nail technician of choice.

There are a number of steps that are followed through in this treatment but right of the bat, let me tell you, these products smell divine, absolutely fresh, with clean and relaxing fragrances filling the air. There are a number of essential oils in the products with the prominent smell being the White Tea extract.

While in salon, those ladies who have already had this treatment done stated that their feet have remained soft for more than a week and half.

So here goes with the process.

1. Soak hands/feet in warm water

As with all manis and pedis a good soak is important to soften the skin and prepare it for the processes to the follow.

2. Advanced Callus Softening Gel

This gel is applied on a cotton pad and wiped over feet in areas of hardened skin. The feet is then wrapped in cling film for approximately 5 mins. This process softens calluses and makes for easier filing.

3. Filing of feet

Steps 1 and 2 above make the filing process so quick and easy leaving the skin of the feet soft and beautiful. There isn’t a need for excessive filing.

4. Back into the soak

Once the filing is complete feet are once again immersed into a soak.

5. Exfoliation

An exfoliator is used on the skin, which is non-aggressive but leaves the skin feeling beautiful.

6. Masking

It is this step that makes this experience similar to a facial as a thin layer of mask is applied and left on for 5 mins. On application the products, which contains menthol feels cool and soothing on the skin. There is absolutely no burning or irritation from the product.

7. Hot Compress

One the mask is applied, the area being treated is wrapped in a hot compress, which enhances the experience of the mask and really soothes and nourishes the skin.

8. Massage Moisturizer

Following the removal of the mask, a moisturizer is used to massage the hands/feet. This moisturizer is a hydrating product and it melts into the skin without feel sticky or slippery.

9. Callus Balm

This product is targeted at keeping feet soft and keeping calluses at bay for as long as possible. The balm is massaged into the skin and again the product feels cooling and nourishing on the skin.

10. Finishing Spray

As a final touch, there is a locking in spray that’s applied and gently patted onto the skin.

What an incredible experience! The process is modifying for hands as needed but overall this has been the most fantastic manicure and pedicure I’ve ever had and I recommend this with: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I highly recommend that you give this treatment a go. It is available at all Sorbet Group Salons.

I hope you enjoyed reading my experience and let me know in the comments below what you think of this treatment if you have already done it or even once you do have it done!

With love and gratitude
